Working Fire

Tuesday, November 3, 2015 14:30 11/3/2015-At approx 14:30 hours River Edge Fire Department was dispatched for a report of a house fire in the 800 block of Bogert Rd. Upon Chief 1-01s arrival he reported a heavy smoke condition showing and declared a working fire. Mutual aid was dispatched automatically from Oradell and New Milford with a FAST Team from the Hackensack Fire Department. 3 handlines were in operation and the truck company went to the roof to ventilate. With no progress being made and conditions deteriorating, command sounded the evacuation signal and requested a 3rd alarm. Several outside handlines, 1 ladder pipe and 1 deck gun were put into operation as heavy fire was now in the attic. After about 1 hour, all visible fire was knocked down and the companies went back in for overhaul. The fire was placed under control at the 1 hour and 20 minute mark. No injuries were reported and the cause was determined to be a plumber doing work in the home.
