Tues, July 15 - Working Basement Fire - Knights Of Columbus

Today at 1504hrs, REFD was dispatched to a report of smoke coming from the basement/bathroom of the Knights of Columbus located on Kinderkamack Rd. Truck 1 arrived on scene first and established command. Truck 1's crew went to work stretching a 1 3/4" line to the basement bathroom where the fire originated and made a quick knock down. Engine 3, Squad 7, Engine 2 and Rescue 1 also responded and assisted with overhaul and vent. Oradell and New Milford fire units were called to the scene as well as BLS from River Edge to standby.

Mon, June 16 - All American Soap Box Derby

Today, Tyler Neerhout competed in the All American Soap Box Derby Local Rally in New Brunswick, NJ. Tyler competed in the stock division. Out of 17 racers he came in 4th place in the competition. Tyler’s soap box car was sponsored by River Edge Fire Department Company 1 and M&N Screen Printing.

Mon, June 16 - Utility Wire Down

During the storm REFD Company 1 was dispatched to Jefferson Ave for a report of wires down and on fire. First arriving Chief units confirmed multiple wires down on the block and on fire. Truck 1 and Engine 3 Responded and secured the scene until PSEG arrived and cut the power to the lines. During this REFD received 2 more calls for a smell of something burning on 400 block of The Fenway and also a smell of something burning at a school on Kinderkamack Rd.
